NCFR MC Turkey Run

Nassau County Fire Riders M.C. Annual Turkey Run

Story & photos by Cowboy

On a cloudy Sunday morning one of my favorite L.I. motorcycle events returned after being dormant for a couple of seasons. The Nassau County Fire Riders M.C. brought back the turkey run for 2017, which benefitted Beacon House, an organization that helps our local homeless Veteran’s. The crew from the Fire Riders did an amazing job of putting this event together in a very short period of time. Even though this event was happening on the same day as another major motorcycle event, it still drew over 75 riders & passengers, as well as dozens of walk-ins at the end site. Unfortunately, the rain started to fall as the ride was ready to roll, so with rider safety in mind, the road captains made the decision to go directly to the end site at the VFW Hall. The Band-Armed & Dangerous was all set up and ready to rock as everyone began arriving for an afternoon of comradery for such an important cause. By days end, a total of 85 turkeys, 2 hams and over 600 pounds of food were collected to help Beacon House in their mission to help our homeless Veterans.

Much appreciation goes out to the Fire Riders M.C. Nassau County for stepping up & bringing this event back to the motorcycle community. Thanks to all the riders who didn’t let the weather stop them from helping out our Veterans, and most important of all thank you to all of America’s Veterans past-present & future for your service! Ride safe folks!
