Home for our Troops Run

Texas Roadhouse Bike Run Benefitting Homes for our Troops

Story & photos by Cowboy

On a clear, Sunday morning the rumble of almost 150 Motorcycles roared from the Texas Roadhouse in East Meadow to the Deer Park F.D. training grounds, which is located just down the road from the Texas Roadhouse in Deer Park. This annual event assists a group called Building Homes for Heroes, an organization that is helping our Veterans. The ride is organized by L.I.

H.O.G. and is always blessed with great weather and an awesome turnout of riders as well as walk-ins. The day began with an amazing breakfast spread in East Meadow and then a full Police escorted ride to Deer Park. Eventually the riders made their way to Texas Roadhouse Deer Park, but not before passing under a huge American Flag, which hung high overhead. Upon their arrival, Tony, Ana and the Deer Park Texas Roadhouse Crew put out a delicious lunch spread that never seemed to run out of food.

The rockin’ sounds of the band Left Jab, filled the air as riders walked off the calories from the (BIG Texas Size) breakfast & lunch by checking out the awesome raffle prizes up for grabs and visiting the vendors such as L.I. ABATE, Rolling Thunder NY6, L.I. Chapter, Hope for the Warriors, and Building Homes for Heroes. To learn more about these organizations which provide info on motorcyclists’ rights & help our Veterans in many different ways, search for the names listed above online. Thank you to all involved in this event every year, and a big thank you to Texas Roadhouse for everything they do for our veterans! Ride safe, folks!
