Still Cruizin’ Car Club Car Show

Story & photos by Cowboy

On a beautiful, Sunday afternoon, I caught up with the crew from the Still Cruizin’ Car Club during their annual show at the Ronkonkoma VFW Post. Even though there is not a lot of space at this location, over 70 cars and trucks awaited visitors to this show. This annual event benefits the VFW Post by providing funds that are used to help with repairs and upkeep of the building and surrounding grounds. (Continue Reading)

Kiwanis Club Islip & Bayshore Classic Car Show

Story by Lee Sheridan

Photos by Cowboy

This past summer, car shows that are put on for wonderful causes and benefitting charity were in full swing all over Long Island. Kiwanis Club is a huge staple in supporting charitable causes and hold several events of their own each year. On a whole, the monies raised from all of their fundraising efforts benefit underprivileged families, children with Autism, and provide three $750 scholarships. This year’s scholarship recipients were Islip, Bayshore and East Islip high schools. (Continue Reading)

One out of six men will get Prostate Cancer at some time in his life – in 2016 over 221,000 cases were diagnosed and an estimated 27,500 men will die from Prostate Cancer (National Cancer Institute) – more cases than women with breast cancer. With the use of early screening (PSA test) nine out of ten cases of Prostate Cancer are discovered while it is still in the early stages – giving men a much better chance of survival! Annual David Lerner & Associates Charity Car Show

Story & photos by Cowboy

It was an overcast morning as I arrived at the David Lerner Associates building in Syosset for the 2017 car gathering, which benefits the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society of America. The Centurion Cruisers C.C. of Nassau County were in action taking care of registering the line of cars/trucks. As the drivers parked their gems for display, out came the polishing equipment. Collectors take their wax off/wax on chore very seriously and each has their own unique technique of performing this task.                   (Continue Reading)

Cruisin Wednesday’s…The Milleridge Inn Custom Car Show

Article by Lee Sheridan

Photos by Cowboy

Many who have lived on LI for most of their lives know of the Milleridge Inn. Tucked away on a small incline off of Rte 107 in Jericho, sits this historic restaurant whose history dates back to 1672. The Milleridge, deep seeded in tradition, welcomes its guest to an atmosphere of old world décor and service. Adjacent to the rear parking area sits a small village lined with quaint specialty shops catering to baked goods, holiday decorations, toy shop and other unique business’s. Every Wednesday night from May –October the Inn’s huge parking lot is transformed into an outdoor custom car museum, hence the name, “Cruisin Wednedsays”. Amongst the cars are merchandise and food vendors. During the show the village shops stay open late and the Inn offers a special cruisin menu. The perfect backdrop for the show is of course, music by DJ Rich, who is sure to pump out tunes that depicts the era of these timeless machines. (Continue Reading)

LOOKING BACK!

Deer Park Saturday Night Cruise-In

Article and photos by Cowboy

Every Saturday night,(weather permitting) starting in late spring and ending in early fall the parking lot behind McDonalds, off route 231 in Deer Park is filled with cars, trucks and even a few motorcycles. From classics, to modern muscle cars, and everything in between make up this collection of sweet rides. There are a few diehards that attend every week, but what brings folks back week after is the fact that there is always something new rolling in. I have had the pleasure to see a 1916 Rio and a Military Deuce and a half. I made a lot of new friends at this event, and found out about Sunday shows that were not on any calendars. I look forward to next spring and hopefully this gathering will continue. Drive safe, folks! (Continue Reading)

Sayville’s Annual Summerfest Car Show

Story & photos by Cowboy

As the day dawned on a beautiful L.I. summer Sunday, a rumble was heard throughout the Village of this quaint little south shore town, which meant only one thing – the Sayville Summerfest Car Gathering was once again happening along Main Street. By 7am, I was walking down Main Street to find at least 50 or more cars, classics and trucks already setting up their vehicles and displays. With polishing cloths in hand, the owners were happy to (Continue Reading)

In Memory of Sal Castiglione

Article & photos by Cowboy

On a clear, crisp Saturday morning, I found myself covering an assignment, I had never covered before: a farewell convoy for a young trucker named Sal Castiglione. As I walked down the road of an industrial park leading to the Elizabeth Truck Center, I arrived at a sight to behold. Lined down the road for as far as the eye could see were almost 100 Big Rigs already waiting in line to pay tribute to this beloved young man. I had the pleasure of speaking with many of Sal’s family and friends and learned that this was a young man, who was always there when needed, and would travel anywhere at any time to help. It was an honor to speak with so many, who relived the stories they told about their friend. (Continue Reading)

WW II Armor

Article & photos by Cowboy

It was a clear Saturday afternoon when I entered the grounds of the Old Bethpage Village Restoration. It was as if I passed through a time warp. I approached the parking area and was greeted by a group of World War II Allied Soldiers, who were manning a check point. They asked me if I was the new photographer and then pointed me in the direction of the encampment at the bottom of the hill. As I entered the area various armored vehicles were being prepared for battle. An M4 Sherman Tank, M16 Quad Halftrack, M3A1 Scout Car with mounted machine gun, and various Troop Carriers were being prepped for an all-out assault on an enemy machine gun nest/bunker in the French countryside. Father’s Day at the Car Show

Story & photos by Cowboy

I was a little worried when I looked out my window on Father’s Day morning and saw a sea of fog, but by the time I arrived at Merrick Train Station for the Annual Car Show/Motorcycle run the weather was starting to clear. I arrived to a line of classic vehicles waiting to get this show on the road. This show, which benefits the Nassau County Sheriff’s Dept. Widows & Children Fund grows in numbers each year. While getting ready to start shooting, I heard a familiar rumble coming from Sunrise Highway, I looked up to see around 65 Motorcycles,(Led by members of the Forsaken Guns M.C.) rolling into the area set aside for motorcycles parking.
