Valery Levine – Paper Romance

CD Layout and Design by Don Waller

Growing up as a dancer and competitive figure skater, Val had a deep relationship with music before she ever picked up a guitar. An avid poet throughout the years as well, songwriting has been an exciting direction that combines her talents and passions.

Influenced by Emmylou Harris and Rickie Lee Jones among others, Val’s heartfelt tunes combine folk rock and classic country sounds with charming, sophisticated and thought provoking lyrics that reach a common note with people everywhere.

An articulate and delightful vocalist, she can be seen and heard on the local music scene and across Long Island. Valery’s debut CD “PAPER ROMANCE” is being received internationally with much acclaim. Bend an ear to her music, it will transport you.

“PAPER ROMANCE” – Valery has employed some serious talent on this presentation and it shows. Players include Rich Lanahan, Klyph Black and Jimmy Fleming on guitars, Mark Mancini, Charley Noturnno on keys,  the always charming Walter Noller on squeezebox, Paul Gilmore on bass and vocals, Alex Sarkis and James Benard on drums, Sarah Lewis on electric Banjo, Annie Mac on flute and vocals and Cassandra House on backing vocals.

Rounding out the line up is project engineer and studio owner Mick Hargreaves on assorted instruments, vocals and sage wisdom.

But the songs are the prize here. For what initially appears to be a country style recording, the lyrics take you to a place far deeper than most contemporary country tunes offer.

Valery’s efforts have garnered praise from as far as Australia and locally she’s been met with acclaim from fellow players and her listening audience.

She presently is in Nashville promoting her CD, but will return to perform on Long Island soon. Visit her website for show dates and to purchase her cd:
