U.S. Veterans MC NY Operation Legion Restore

Story & photos by Cowboy

On a clear Saturday afternoon the familiar sound of roaring engines was heard in Hempstead as riders arrived at the Historic American Legion Hall to assist the U.S. Veterans M.C. NY State Chapter in raising much needed funds to help restore this awesome old building. As the day went on more than 100 riders came out to show their support, partake in an over the top BBQ served up by the staff of the Legion Hall and jam to the sounds of the Southern Guns Band. With a few vendors on hand offering a wide variety of jewelry and other items. Folks enjoyed doing a little shopping, conversing with friends and just kicking back to enjoy the afternoon.

Also on site was a young man working on his Eagle Scout project. John Benson III is planning a new Veteran’s memorial and flower garden. Follow his project at: I have to mention that there was a cool variety of raffle prizes available. I always buy raffle tickets when covering the events. It is my way of giving and if I happen to win, I look at it as taking home a souvenir memory of the event. I won two awesome gift baskets!

Thank you to all the members of U.S. Veterans M.C. NY Chapter for their hospitality and for, as always, treating me like family. Appreciation goes out to all who came to support this great cause. Thank you and good luck to John Benson III for the project he is working on to honor our Veterans. Most of all Thank you to all our Veterans – past, present & future for all they have done, are doing, or will do to secure our freedom! Ride safe folks!
