11th Annual Sticky Fingers Run

The 2017 WBAB Sticky Finger Run was in one word, “Outstanding!” Everything went perfectly from the weather to the attendance and support. This, our eleventh annual scoot, was a huge success raising over $20,000 with about 475 bikes attending. The monies raised went to Stony Brook Cancer Center (SBCC) breast cancer patient services. Thank you from my heart to the Long Island motorcycle community. Together we do grand things.

The day started off with HellGate rocking us at the SBCC with a food truck, Free ice-cream and vendors enjoying the sun, music and friendships. Sharing our passions for motorcycles, music and sharing stories about experiences, directly and indirectly, with breast cancer. I am always humbled by these encounters. I’m a lucky man.

The run took off with perfect SCPD police coverage and assistance, with additional support from the Riders of Fire MC. Down Nicolls Road to Sunrise to 83 and wound down thru town into Riders Park under a giant respectfully hung American flag. Eleven years later and it’s still a rush. We parked our bikes, hugged, shook hands and took pictures, laughed and strolled into the Great South Bay Music Festival. Did I mention I was wearing a bra? Yup, I’m the only guy on Long Island whose kids bought him a bra for father’s day. I wear a bra at the start and end of the run to bring awareness and collect more money for our cause. Some of the looks I get are hysterical. By end of day I was just shy of $900 in the bra.

While walking through the festival I run into Larry! He, in partnership with Jim Faith, run the festival. He says, “How much do you have so far?” I say, “We are at about 16k” He says, “If you hit 18K I’ll bring you up to 20 because I know you like that number.” We smiled, “Deal”. After some time I got the numbers from the run and we were at $17,300; however, after a couple of days we hit 18K and thanks to Dream Works Studios and The Great South Bay Music Fest we hit 20K! You guys Rock!

Enjoy the rest of the riding season and I’ll see you New Year’s Day at Cold Finger 2018.

Thank you all

On the air and in the wind, Fingers
