Six things the Lord Hates

Bob_Anton_Narrow_RoadAs we trudge through the mire of this presidential election, I am once again reminded of a biblical proverb. “These six things the Lord hates; Indeed, seven are repulsive to Him:

A proud look [the attitude that makes one overestimate oneself and discount others],

A lying tongue

Hands that shed innocent blood

A heart that creates wicked plans

Feet that run swiftly to evil

A false witness who breathes out lies [even half-truths]

And one who spreads discord (rumors) among brothers.”

When one considers the current Presidential election cycle, it’s hard to know where to begin in applying the truth of this proverb.  It is a sad reality that each of these repulsive actions has been practiced by the presidential candidates. The media is also guilty. They have intentionally misled the American people with half-truths, fabricated stories and the reporting of unsubstantiated rumors with the intent of discrediting one or the other candidate.  Perhaps what is most disturbing is that the general public has taken sides and joined the fray.  Social media, which once held great promise for reuniting lost friends and reigniting old friendships, has instead become the venue for personal political attacks upon both the candidates and fellow citizens alike.

God Himself has declared that He HATES such things.  Being that He is a God of truth and justice, we can be sure that He will not allow the guilty to go unpunished, but will meet out justice in due time. Therefore, it behooves us to think twice before adding our voice to the lies and discord that is dividing this nation.  It is certainly our constitutional right to take a political stand for what we believe: however, unlike our politicians and media, we must do so with intellectual honesty and personal integrity.

You think about that…

God Bless you See You on the Road.
