Rhinebeck Grand Nationals

If I had not read the events section of Full Throttle magazine, I would have never known about The Rhinebeck Grand National Meet. This is an event for your bucket list, well worth the ride to the Dutchess County Fairgrounds. I arrived mid-afternoon, which next year I plan to get there at the start of the day and that is because I missed seeing some of the magnificent antique bikes that entered the judged contest because they were being loaded up to head home. It was excruciatingly hot all afternoon, but even though, I enjoyed seeing all the amazing rides. A lot of the concession stands that are part of the fairgrounds were open for business and for that I got to eat a delicious corned beef on rye, affordably priced I might add. The “Lustre Kings

” band jammed all afternoon, while attendees walked around looking at all the antique bikes, hot rods and unusual antique motorized vehicles, as well as shopping the vendor booths of both new and used motorcycle parts, clothes, crafts, jewelry and toys. One booth was selling raffle tickets for a drawing to win a chopper motorcycle, I’m crossing my fingers. Perhaps this is a woman thing, but I was very impressed with the bathrooms on the fairgrounds, they were immaculately maintained by personnel, a clean bathroom is always a plus when attending an outdoor event.
