David Lerner Car Show

Annual David Lerner & Associates Charity Car Show

Story & photos by Cowboy

It was an overcast morning as I arrived at the David Lerner Associates building in Syosset for the 2017 car gathering, which benefits the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society of America. The Centurion Cruisers C.C. of Nassau County were in action taking care of registering the line of cars/trucks. As the drivers parked their gems for display, out came the polishing equipment. Collectors take their wax off/wax on chore very seriously and each has their own unique technique of performing this task.

My friends from the band ‘Brooklyn Time Machine’ were on hand to provide some classic rock & roll tunes for the crowd. Suzanne from the Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America explained to me how some of the funds raised get disbursed: Mr. Softee ice cream trucks visit the group homes, which help some of those on the spectrum practice ordering and the patience of standing in a line. The entire park at Adventure Land is reserved for families and children to enjoy an adventure together with other families of autistic children/adults. Ric Mango singer from the 70’s pop music group, Jay & The Americans, supported the event by putting one of his classic cars on display. Lawrence Ruisi and his crew from L.I. Exotics Car Club rolled in with some show-stopping, 4-wheeled machines adding some serious eye candy to the show.

What I love about this show is this: Every Dollar that is donated to this event gets MATCHED by David Lerner. Thank you, Sir. For more information about the Nassau/Suffolk Autism Society of America go to their website Nsasa.org. Thank you to David Lerner and his dedicated staff for the outstanding hospitality they show to all who support the event. And thank you to all who joined the efforts to help the cause See y’all on the road folks. DRIVE SAFE!
