Cold Finger Run 2017

The WBAB New Year’s Day Cold Finger Run 2017 was a huge success thanks to our wonderful Long Island motorcycle community. The job of assembling a motorcycle run is no easy task and is not done by one person; however, my team here at WBAB has worked feverishly on this run for the past 14 years. During that time we have learned two main things. 1) No matter how you plan, things can go wrong like weather & police availability. 2) No matter how hard we work it is only a success if you show up.  So thanks again to the roughly 900 bikes that showed up at the Cradle of Aviation in Garden City and followed me to the Emporium in Patchogue raising over $25,000.00! For the ‘Kids Need More Camp Adventure Program’.

Camp Adventure is a sleep away camp on Shelter Island where children coping with cancer can spend a week with their siblings and other children fighting the same fight. With doctors, nurses and counselors all volunteering to care of the children during their stay, it is a great time for them as they do crafts and games and a bunch of wonderful experiences that entertain educate and give them a sense of belonging. They can briefly forget about the cancer, and just maybe the cancer can forget about them. Take it from me, after being at camp several times (to meet the children and see how the money is spent) it is nothing short of amazing.

Some years back ‘Camp Adventure’ was dropped by the American Cancer Society and was nearly abandoned and lost. That is when people of like minds and hearts gathered and formed ‘Kid’s Need More’ to pick up the ball and soldier on. Thank You! Camp Adventure lives on!

Enjoy the pictures and know in your hearts and minds that we did a great thing to start off 2017.
