Story by Lee Sheridan

Elon Jack Potter was born in Ithaca, Michigan, on April 24th, 1941, one of four children of Howard and Sheila Potter, who owned a small farm and a honeybee business. E. J. Potter, a k a the Michigan Madman, was a legend on the American drag strip, who earned his nickname riding 170 plus miles per hour on a motorcycle he fitted with a Chevy V-8 which he named ‘Widow Maker’, and who later went nearly 200 m.p.h. on a three-wheel bike powered by a jet engine. Over the years, Potter built a series of continuously evolving ‘Widow Maker’ Chevy powered drag bikes. My research validates that there were actually 7 in all. (Continue Reading)

Hells Angels MC Long Island Cabin Fever Dinner Party

Story by Cowboy

Photos by Ron Monteleone, Cowboy

In the motorcycle community, this time of year causes riders to feel the anxieties of being cooped up. With almost 2 feet of snow and icy temps that had recently hit LI, the Hell’s Angels LI MC annual Cabin Fever dinner party couldn’t have come at a better time. This year the party returned to the Watermill Caterers in Smithtown, NY, and although this venue is known for hosting black tie affairs, on this day it was basically a black leather affair, which included fine dining, elegant place settings and entertainment by DJ George Marchelos. Sacred Steel MC Anniversary Celebration

Story & photos by Cowboy

This year marks the 9th Anniversary for the Sacred Steel M.C. and that means Party Time! As I arrived at the clubhouse, it was already packed with well-wishers and music playing over the house sound system. The sweet aroma of homemade food filled the air and the wood burning stove was going to keep the space toasty warm, but as bodies arrived, the place heated up fast. The current club President, Rich Schmansky and his brothers were circulating around inside, as well as outside, welcoming their guests. (Continue Reading)

Story & photos by Cowboy

Every year as Halloween approaches, so does one of my favorite Long Island Car shows the awesome-“Son of Monster Mash” Car/Truck/Motorcycle Show at Bald Hill. This show always brings in vehicles that aren’t always out and about. The regulars bring out their best Halloween decorations to deck out their space. Patrons of the show arrive dressed in their costumes and even a few family pets get in the spirit of the show as well. With more than 150 Classic/Modern Classic/Custom Cars/Trucks & Motorcycles in attendance, this show was once again a total success! (Continue Reading)

All Car Clubs Food & Toy Drive Car Show

Story & photos by Cowboy

On a clear, sunny, but slightly, windy November morning, I headed out to one of my favorite fall events -the All Car Clubs Food & Toy Drive. This is usually the final event on the car show calendar and the last time to catch-up with everyone until the following spring, when shows begin again. I pulled up to the Brookhaven Town Hall to find about 25 the early birds shinning up their gems as they waited for the other show car owners to pull in. The line moved along smoothly, once all the beauties were ready to show off their glory, the spectator’s gate opened to hundreds of car show enthusiasts. (Continue Reading)

Demon Knights MC West Winter Party

Story & photos by Tami Ellinport

It was pretty cold outside, so being inside to stay warm was nice. As cold as it was, the Demon Knights MC West had a full house through-out the night. Patches to independents, from the 5 boroughs to Suffolk County, were coming in and out to enjoy the hot food and music. It was good to see some new faces and make some new friends. Personality’s really come out when you ask people to smile for the camera, with that being said, I want to thank all the men and woman who smiled and showed their support.

Once the warmer weather kicks in, it will be such a pleasure to hear the rumble of bikes at events as well as the larger turnouts. Thank you DKMC for your hospitality, it was nice to see all of you.  (Continue Reading)

Rolling Thunder Cycles Celebrates Their Customers and the Holidays

Story & photos by Tami Ellinport

What a great turn-out Rolling Thunder Cycles had for their Customer Appreciation/Holiday party, which owners Gerard Cerniglia and Tommy Nelson cannot believe just hit their 35th year.

It was a little brisk out for “rolling into thunder” on a motorcycle, but there were about 15 brave souls that weathered the 35 degrees and put on their warmest gear to ride in, while the rest of us arrived by cage with the heat on full blast. (Continue Reading)

The WBAB New Year’s Day Cold Finger Run 2017 was a huge success thanks to our wonderful Long Island motorcycle community. Biker for Christ and the Rushing Wind Biker Church held their 9th annual Biker Christmas Celebration December 17th and it was an incredible evening. Great music by Kenny Maxx and the Soul Rockers, great food that was prepared by the people of the biker church, and just a joy filled event to end the 2016 Long Island motorcycle event season. Story and Photography by Bob Stegmaier

It was a well attended 3 day event and provided a great opportunity to see first-hand the many newly introduced factory bikes, custom bikes and many aftermarket accessories. During the December 9th – 11th  event, more than 58 thousand (38% first time attendees and 62 % returning attendees) riders and motorcycle enthusiasts from the Northeast states descended on the Javits Convention Center in NYC to see the nearly 200 exhibitors and a great stunt show. Many attendees made purchases while many stated that they are in the market to purchase a bike. Story by Lee Sheridan

This is immediately became my favorite event of the year. It takes G-Man and myself eight months of brainstorming and planning with our toy run committee, who I like to refer to as Operation Elves, to orchestrate this 2 day event. Each and every detail of this event from decorating and placing the donation boxes at over 25 toy drop locations, to delivering the thousands of toys that we collect and place under the massive Christmas tree in the lobby at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital is gone over with a fine tooth comb leaving no room for error.
