TradeMark HatBlues Foundation Hall of Fame Guitar Legend Johnny Winter Has Died.

We’re all singing the blues since the announcement of Johnny Winters death on July 16th. He was found in his hotel room in Zurich, Switzerland, midway through a European tour. He was gearing up to release an album entitled Step Back in September, and was planning to tour the US with brother Edgar before returning to the UK in 2015.
Winters’ guitarist Paul Nelson, who was instrumental in looking after the veteran musician’s health and performances in recent years, last night posted a picture of his colleague’s trademark hat and said: “Thanks to all from Johnny’s family, band and crew for the overwhelming outpouring of love and admiration for Johnny during this very, very sad time.” (Continue Reading)

SEETHER

SEETHER1SEETHER –

A little more than a decade ago, a hard rocking trio from South Africa, changed its name from Saron Gas to Seether and embarked for the United States. It was, according to front man Shaun Morgan, “an emotional decision, by no means easy. Taking that big step was terrifying, but I feel that the decision we made, as tough as it was, was ultimately the correct one.” (Continue Reading)

Craving Strange

BSCravingStrangeCoverWho the F’ is Craving Strange?

A rock and roll band from Amityville, NY mixing the aggressiveness of bands like Guns n Roses with the pop and melodic sense of Foo Fighters? Is it the band with the hilarious video of their remake of Britney Spears’ “Hold it against me” and ridiculous appearance on “Secret Wedding” on TLC? Maybe they’re the band that puts on infectious, energetic live shows; impossible to not get swept up in till you’re singing along having as good a time as they are. (Continue Reading)

By now the world knows the essential story of Big Bad Voodoo Daddy—the band co-founded by Steve Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren made their debut in their hometown of Ventura, California in April of 1993 helping to usher in the swing revival founded on a colorful fusion of classic American sounds including jazz, swing, and Dixie land mixed with the energy and spirit of contemporary culture.

Review and Live photos by Momma Dukes

Thrash metallers Megadeth put out their 14th studio album Super Collider in June, and the LP found the group testing the limits of its signature sound, namely on the banjo-infused bluegrass-metal crossover track “The Blackest Crow.” But ironically enough while on tour to promote their new LP they only played one song (Kingmaker) off of it at their recent show at the Paramount in Huntington on December 3rd. What’s Going On

1

Exif JPEG

Looking back over the last 40 years, the world has gone through extreme and profound changes. We the people have evolved from era to era, decade to decade, but one important fact and question remains: What’s Going On? We look around and see improvement in technology, science, medicine and other entities associated with these topics that surround our everyday life. But in the belly of the beast, which I will use to reference life as a whole, there is more destruction than ever. Our government, immigration, the environment, drugs, crime, terrorism, greed and all the hate are just a few of the topics that have played a part in depleting the good in life. The truth is staring us straight in the face and asks the question that Marvin Gaye asked 40 years ago, “What’s Going On?”

Joe Rock and The All Stars

Photo’s and review by Momma Dukes

I had the opportunity to see Joe Rock and The All Stars perform at Don Audio’s Original Music Band Showcase at the Brick house Brewery in Patchogue.  That’s right I said “original” music.  This wasn’t the All Stars performing covers that we all know and love… they were doing original music, and I have to say after hearing the songs, I loved them even more.
