If you didn’t come to our event this year, let me just say that you missed one hell of a good time. The newly voted in BOB officials had a lot to be proud of, their leadership was instrumental in making our first event of the year a huge success. The police escort to Saint Bernard’s Parish in Mill Basin went off without a hitch. Our escorts did a fine job of getting all 175 plus riders through the busy streets of Brooklyn safe and sound.  When we arrived back at Baron de Kalb Knights of Columbus hall, the sounds from the band ‘Rock Farm’ echoed from the speakers and set the tone for an afternoon of comradery amongst all who came out to receive the holy anointment.

Once every one was settled in, it was time to start the party. The food was plentiful, fresh and delicious thanks to the folks at Dominick La Cuccina’s Catering. This year’s best represented club went to the members of Indian Motorcycle Riders Group of Mineola. President, George Barker graciously accepted the trophy on behalf of his riding group. The 50/50 was won by Martha Rodriguez, who was in attendance to show her support and honor her boyfriend, BOB Riding Club member, Jamie Perri AKA Kickstand, who passed away this year.

As we all know too well, many of us in the riding community have lost brothers and sisters of the road. The bike blessings not only help us to receive that nod from above before we take to the roads to start the hectic riding season, it is also a time when our hearts remind us of those who are riding above us. Many thanks to all who came out to support our event.

Be safe out there and remember, watch out for other motorists, because they may not be watching out for you.
