Air Power Museum Show

Antique Vehicles & Vintage Aircraft

Story & photos by Cowboy

I honestly must say that I came across this particular car show totally by chance. I usually go to the American Air power Museum in Farmingdale every Labor Day weekend, on this particular day it turned out there was a show happening. The Long Island Model “A” Ford Club along with The Long Island Motor Touring Club brought out more than 35 classic cars, trucks, military vehicles, and even a few hot rods for the public to enjoy. The Airpower Museum also fired up their collection of vintage aircraft along with a few aircraft from the Bayport Aerodrome to make for an awesome display of horsepower! This was turning out to be an amazing afternoon, I got to make some new car community friends, photographed outstanding antique aircraft up close, as well as in the air, and I was privileged to receive a history lesson from some of the owners. My favorite part of this visit was a fly-by performed by a Vintage World War II, P-40 Warhawk!

All the proceeds from the day’s event help to keep the American Airpower Museum open and operating. Thank you to the car club members for their hospitality and the valuable history lesson. Much appreciation goes to The Airpower Museum for hosting this event and to the folks from the Bayport Aerodrome for bringing out their aircraft for all to enjoy. Drive safe, folks & keep ’em flying, as well
